The recent snowy weather has made me realize that if you bike regularly with your kids during the winter, they are perfectly equipped to have fun in the snow. Having winter Kids Cycling Gloves UK, jackets, and raincoats for the kids already meant that when the snow came down, all I had to do was put the two boys in their gear and open the door, and out they went.
They, like most of the boys this week, would go out whenever they could and throw snowballs at each other, their friends, and us.
After buying winter gear for the kids so they could bike to school no matter what the weather, I expected it to be sturdy enough, but I wasn’t sure how it would fare in prolonged contact with the snow.
When I looked out the window and saw 6-year-old N lying on his back, arms and legs spread, trying to make stars in the snow, and 4-year-old T running around with big chunks of the white stuff, my sinking heart. I would definitely dry wet and cold babies and wet clothes in a few hours.
Kids Cycling Gloves UK are perfect for snowballing
I’m happy to report that the winter cycle gear has held up very well.
The Altura Kids Cycling Gloves UK, which T wore every day for two winters, were ideal for keeping his hands warm and dry. I was waiting for the tears of pain to dry from the red hands and wet gloves.
I am happy to report that the gloves were dry on the inside and the hands were wonderfully warm. The outside of the glove had cleaned the moisture from the snow without drying.
In his top half, T wore his new Sprayway Kids Hawk IA Waterproof Jacket. This jacket turned out to be completely waterproof in the pouring rain. So I wasn’t too surprised when it kept me dry and dry in the snow. This was one of the best purchases this winter. Especially considering the amount of rain we had in December.
On his legs, he wore a favorite second-hand pair of Spotty Otter waterproofs. Again they did not leave moisture.
So after more than 3 hours of jumping through the snow. Countless drops and throws, I don’t know how many snowballs he came home warm and dry – the result.
My older son N has the same winter gloves as the boy, so his hands were dry too.
His second-hand Sprayway Wilderness waterproof jacket is nearing. The end of its life after being washed countless times in the car. However, he was still holding tight and his body was dry. The only problem was his hands where he managed to get the cuffs wet. I think it was more due to the snow on his hands but I’m not sure.
On his legs, the new Sprayway Rainpants for the kids that I bought for Christmas (also from Go Outdoors) kept his bottom completely dry.
Those in the know will notice that both guys have kid winter gloves. Which are essential for keeping your fingers warm every day on the bike. However, the waterproof jackets and pants that guys wear are not necessarily designed specifically for cycling. This is partly due to the fact that until now it was impossible to find such products at an affordable price. Because kids grow up fast and we’re happy with multi-functional equipment that can handle whatever activity they do. However, I think it goes without saying that if it weren’t for all the cycling I do. I doubt we’d be as well equipped.
So there you have it. kids’ winter gloves are perfect for snowshoeing. And thanks to the waterproof winter cycling gear, they’re well-equipped for a day of fun in the snow.
