Introduction

We all know that ticks carry infectious diseases and can cause a lot of irritation for pets. Ticks are also attracted to certain parts of the body, including the head and neck area, making it important to thoroughly check your pet’s coat before putting them outdoors. If you find a tick on your dog or cat’s body, what should you do? How do you get rid of it? In this article we’ll cover how to fight ticks on your pet by using several different methods:

Check for ticks by running your hands over your dog or cat.

  • Run your hands over your dog or cat. If you see a tick, remove it with tweezers.
  • If you are not sure whether or not a tick is attached to your pet, look for their characteristic red belly and black legs.
  • Check your pet every 30 days if they are indoors only (no outdoor activities) and every two weeks if they spend time outdoors during warm weather in areas where ticks are common.

Know where to check for ticks.

A pet-friendly tick collar or flea collar is a good option if you have pets that spend time outdoors. These collars are made of soft, breathable ticks on cats materials and incorporate a tick prevention formula into the fabric. Ticks can’t bite through this material, so they can’t attach themselves to your pet’s skin or fur. The first place to check for ticks on your pet is the belly. Are often found there, as well as in their ears or paws. You may also see one on your dog’s head, neck and tail.

The next area to look for ticks is the chest and legs—especially around armpits and groin areas where they can hide from you until they’re ready to bite (and potentially transmit disease).

Use a pet-friendly tick collar or flea collar.

It’s important to remember that not all tick collars work for all dogs and cats—even if they’re made from the same material! Check out our guide on choosing the best equipment for your furry friend before making any purchases at.
